Overview

• Travel/Contract role in Huntersville, North Carolina
• 13-week assignment
• 36 hours per week
• Night shift: 3x12 hours, 18:45–07:15
• Every other weekend required
• No float requirement
• Locals accepted

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ED - Emergency Department (2 years of experience)
• ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIHSS
• IV insertion skills
• Ability to perform patient triage
• Experience with conscious or moderate sedation
• Interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Management of dysrhythmias

Preferred Qualifications

• Critical care patients
• Trauma
• Boarding inpatients
• ENPC
• TNCC

Unit Details

• Target ratio: 1:4, with assignments flexing up and down based on acuity
• Stroke certified; gives t-PA and TNK
• Chest pain certified; handles walk-in STEMI
• No trauma services
• No dialysis services
• Does not admit pediatrics
• Can be overcapacity, with ED MSU boarding
• Dedicated charge nurse 24/7
• Cath lab performs intervention onsite
• Nurses, CNAs, MUR, paramedics, ED MDs, and MLPs on the unit

Orientation

• 2 shifts of unit orientation, 12 hours each
• Hospital orientation during week one; traveler must be available for classes each day

Work Environment

• Scrubs: Navy and/or White
• Unit systems: Pyxis, EPIC
• Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps
• Medication and lab specimen scanning used
