Dietitian Travel/Contract Position

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Overview

  • Specialty: Dietary Services (Dietitian)
  • Setting: High acuity, non-ICU adult acute care and progressive floors in a Level I Trauma center
  • Daily caseload: 6-10 patients
  • Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (5x8 hours)
  • Hours per week: 40 hours
  • No weekend or on-call requirements
  • No floating outside scope of practice
  • Locals not accepted within 100 miles radius
  • Pending New Mexico state license accepted
  • Contracted hours guaranteed with allowance for up to 3 call-offs by facility
  • New contracts and extensions must be at least 10 weeks
  • A 6-month break required after 4 consecutive assignments or 1 year of travel

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) license in New Mexico
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)
  • Experience as an RDN within the last year

Skills and Responsibilities

  • Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to adult patients in acute care and progressive care units
  • Manage nutrition support including enteral nutrition (EN) and parenteral nutrition (PN) with custom formulas for macro- and micronutrients
  • Provide diet education for various disease states
  • Participate in interdisciplinary plan of care rounds

Facility and Work Environment

  • Level I Trauma center, teaching hospital, children’s hospital, short-term acute care
  • Total staffed beds: 554
  • Charting system: Cerner
  • Parking: No fee

Compliance and Documentation

  • Complete employment application with at least 3 years of work history
  • Two professional references within the last 3 years required
  • Skills checklist and work history verification required (3 years minimum)
  • Orientation includes fingerprinting and safety manual acknowledgement
  • Must complete traveler compliance form and review welcome materials prior to start

Additional Notes

  • Overtime applies after 48 hours worked on contracts signed on or after 10/30/2025
  • Remote transportation approval required for assignments longer than 7 days
  • Facility is not near public transportation; candidates must have reliable transportation arrangements
  • Relias Basic Dysrhythmia Exam and other certifications are not required for this specialty
