Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Description
- Work every other weekend is required.
- Experience required with adults, adult critical care, and emergency department (ED).
- Level 1 Trauma center experience required.
- Experience in a teaching hospital setting required.
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system required.
- Dress code: Khaki or black bottoms with royal blue tops.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Missouri
- Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Experience working with adult patients
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Criminal background check within 12 months prior to start, including SSN trace, 7-year county residence/work history, nationwide search, and sex offender search.
- State-specific background checks required for Missouri.
- Primary source verification of state license prior to start.
- NURSYS verification required prior to start.
- Negative drug screen within 12 months of start.
- Physical exam within 1 year indicating good health.
- Fit mask testing (respirator fit test) to be completed onsite during the first week of orientation; must provide a copy of fit test record. Clean-shaven requirement for fit test at this facility.
- TB test (PPD, Qgold, or TSPOT) within 12 months; chest X-ray within 5 years if prior positive PPD.
- Annual TB questionnaire required.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season.
- COVID vaccination series preferred but not mandatory.
- OSHA Respirator Clearance required prior to start (covered for travel candidates).
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and documents prior to or during orientation.
- Completion of post-start orientation checklists during first week on assignment.
Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS and BLS certifications must be current and from AHA or equivalent.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for critical care areas.
- NIH Stroke certification required for ICU, ED, and related units.
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification required only for Behavioral Health and ER (not applicable here).
Additional Notes
- Candidates will be fit tested onsite; refusal or inability to be clean-shaven for fit testing will result in cancellation.
- Modules and training must be completed annually and transcripts maintained.
- Candidates must sign confidentiality, security agreements, and standards of ethical conduct prior to start.
- References and skills checklist required for new candidates per agency standards.
This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital with advanced technology and a supportive team environment. Night shift availability and flexibility for every other weekend are essential.
