Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Modesto, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Required Certifications & Skills

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA/AAP only, must be Instructor or Advanced Provider Course
• Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (EFM) - Typically required for Labor & Delivery; AWHONN certification valid for 2 years
• Circulate OR experience

Background Check Requirements

• 7-year background check within 6 months of start, including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and motor vehicle report if applicable
• FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually
• Sex Offender Search within 90 days of start
• Education verification required unless highest education is high school; BSN preferred for RN positions
• Transcript/Diploma verification as needed
• State-specific Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List search if FACIS III cannot be run

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (must indicate cleared for work)
• Fit test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required)
• Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years or lifetime TDAP with booster within 10 years
• Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT within 90 days) or 2 PPDs (1st within 1 year, 2nd within 90 days), renewed annually
• Immunity or vaccination for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (series or declination)
  • Varicella
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season (11/1 - 4/30)
• Color Blind Exam (in-person, if applicable)
• Respiratory Safety Clearance prior to start, renewed annually (not required for some roles)

Competency Exams (As Applicable)

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
• General Competency Exam (minimum passing score 80% or Angoff score)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (may be required for some Telemetry units)

Employment History & Documentation

• Full 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days, including city and state of employment
• Verification of employment for up to 7 years required
• 2 professional references required for clinical/allied/per diem acute care candidates (within 3 years)
• Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually (exclusions apply)

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Review and sign job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, overpayment refund policy, and general regulatory orientation prior to start
• TB Screening Questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually, signed by candidate and healthcare provider (MD, PA, NP/APN, DO, or RN)
• Passport-style badge photo required
• Personal or auto insurance only if position requires driving/home health
• Conditional offer of employment attestation required prior to start
• Religious exemption forms required for PAPR use, vaccine exemptions (Tdap, MMR, Varicella), and facial hair exemptions (case-by-case approval)
• Epic Questionnaire required for RNs starting 11/3/2025 and onward

Notes

• Candidates with positive TB history must have a negative chest x-ray within 1 year of start
• Candidates may start assignment while Hepatitis B vaccination series is in process but must complete series or sign declination
• Failed fit tests due to facial hair require shaving and retesting; other failures require PAPR training and documentation
• Sincerely held religious exemptions are considered but require completion of specific facility forms
• Drug screen excludes marijuana/cannabinoids due to California law effective 1/1/2024
