Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Location: Ashtabula, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks

Job Description

• Work schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (1900-0730 or 1500-0330 as needed)
• Minimum of 18 months recent Emergency Department (ED) experience required
• Must have experience with Epic electronic health record system

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Minimum of 18 months recent Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Certifications required at time of submission:

  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • PALS issued by American Heart Association
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Valid government-issued photo ID required on assignment
• Background checks including FCRA compliant 7-year search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and fingerprinting (BCI and FBI) within 12 months, updated annually
• Education verification required
• Physical exam within one year of start, including assessment of ability to perform essential job functions
• Fit mask testing onsite during orientation; annual renewals onsite
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (medical exemptions reviewed case-by-case)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray as applicable
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Annual flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (exemptions require facility-specific forms and documentation)
• Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually

Additional Requirements

• Unit-specific competency exam within 12 months of start, updated annually
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (approx. 4 hours covered)
• Two professional references within one year of start from a manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director (co-worker references not accepted)
• Employment application including 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area to assignment
• Annual skills checklist

Preferred (Not Required)

• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
