Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Registered Nurse)
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery (L&D)
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
- Call Requirements: None
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Time Off (RTO): Maximum 5 days off with no more than 2 consecutive days; no time off allowed on holidays, weekends, or the day before/after a holiday
- Float Requirement: Mandatory floating within scope of practice as needed by the facility
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in OB/GYN, including high-risk (Level 3) OB experience
- OB/GYN experience within the last year
- Experience working with high-risk patients
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN Intermediate
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- Bystander Intervention Training
Additional Information
- Local Candidates: Accepted and preferred within a 75-mile radius
- Facility Type: Level 1 Trauma Center
- Charting System: Cerner
- Scrub Color: Any color allowed
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID
- Background checks covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Various certifications and verifications as required by the specialty and facility
- Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, with annual renewal
- Immunizations and titers including Tdap, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and TB screening
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as required

- No prior travel experience explicitly required for this position
- Floating is mandatory to meet facility needs
- No block scheduling for shifts
