Job Description

• Work schedule: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (0700-1930)
• Patient population: Adults & Geriatrics, including stroke patients, post cardiac catheterization care, step-down unit, neuro spine, general surgery, wounds, diabetic care, medical COVID, oral surgery
• Required to float between two nearby facilities as needed
• Average daily census: 16 patients
• Weekend requirement: Every third weekend
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-6
• Charting system: EPIC electronic medical records
• Unit type: Short Term Acute Care
• Scrub color: Light gray/silver

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
• Minimum 2 years of Telemetry experience, including Telemetry experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Proficient with EPIC electronic medical records system

Work Environment & Additional Information

• Floating between facilities may be required
• Orientation includes some sessions outside typical shift hours

• Average patient acuity includes joint replacement, neuro spine, oncology, and medical COVID cases

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued ID required
• Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
• Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Education verification of highest nursing degree
• Professional license primary source verification (NURSYS for Missouri)
• Drug testing within 1 year, including a comprehensive panel
• Physical exam within 1 year
• Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
• Immunizations and titers required or declination forms for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • TB testing (2 negative PPDs or equivalent)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
  • Varicella
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
• Various facility-specific compliance documents including HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality, hand hygiene, dress code, and float attestation
• Unit-specific competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency testing required annually

References & History

• Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
• Employment application and unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
• Performance evaluations may be requested but are not mandatory for contract extensions
