Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Technician
Location: Fredericksburg, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: Interventional Radiology (IR) Technician
- Shift: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM or 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM; on-call shifts may extend until 7:00 AM the next day with rotating days off
- Daily Caseload: Approximately 25 patients
- First-time travelers accepted
- Weekend and on-call requirements apply
- No floating to other facilities required
- Block scheduling and return-to-office restrictions are at manager’s discretion
- Local candidates accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in Virginia
- Minimum 1 year of Interventional Radiology Technologist experience within the last year
- ARRT Certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (AHA provider card required)
- PACS experience
- Biopsy skills
- Contrast skills
- Experience with IR/Angio special procedures including:
- Stents
- Ablations
- Angioplasty
- Angiograms
- Paracentesis
- Thoracentesis
- Nephrograms
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA provider card required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA provider card required if applicable
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (verify with recruiter)
- Competency exams and color blindness testing required
Background & Health Requirements
- Comprehensive background check including criminal, education, and driving records (if applicable)
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
- Drug screening within 30 days prior to start
- Immunizations and titers required:
- TB test or chest X-ray (if TB positive) within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season)
- Fit mask (N95) testing and attestation required annually (except sterile processing and non-clinical supply chain techs)
- COVID vaccination documentation required or declination on file
Documentation & Compliance
- Two professional references required (one current year, one within last 2 years) from supervisors or licensed providers who have directly supervised the candidate
- Employment application and work history verification for at least 2 years required
- Skills checklist and job description acknowledgment required prior to start
- Completion of facility-specific orientation and compliance modules within designated timeframes

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- Candidates must have permanent Virginia state licensure at time of start (temporary licenses not accepted for radiology techs in this setting)
- Onsite BLS renewal available but candidate responsible for fees and scheduling on days off
