Job Details

• Shift: 5x8 hour shifts, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM (Monday to Friday) with holiday rotation
• Weekend Requirement: No
• Floating: May be required to float within scope to meet facility needs, including to sister facilities or other campuses
• Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Local Radius: 60 miles
• Locals Accepted: Yes, on a case-by-case basis

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2 years of Sterile Processing Technician experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
• National certification required: CBSPD and/or HSPA
• Experience in sterilization, decontamination, and assembly/wrapping of sterile processing tech materials
• Preferred experience with Neuro, GU, robotics, ENT, ortho, transplant, and GYN cases
• First-time travelers not accepted

Certifications & Licenses

• National Certification Required: CBSPD and/or HSPA
• BLS: Not required for this position
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit or assignment specifics (confirm with recruiter)

Important Notes

• During hurricane season (June through November, peak in August and September), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams. Confirm availability accordingly.
• Must provide all required documentation and clearances prior to start, including but not limited to:

  • Proof of work eligibility (I-9)
  • Driver’s license/state ID
  • Social Security card or number
  • Background checks covering last 7 years of residence/employment
  • Education verification or diploma/transcripts
  • Physical exam and health documents updated annually
  • Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
  • Immunizations and titers (Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, TB test, flu vaccine during flu season)
  • Drug screening (10 panel within 90 days)
  • Facility-specific orientation modules and safety acknowledgments
  • Clear, passport-style photo for badge

Health & Safety Requirements

• Annual physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands of the role
• Fit testing for N95 respirators required annually
• Immunization compliance including Tdap, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B, TB testing, and seasonal flu vaccine (or approved exemptions)
• Drug screening within 90 days of start
• COVID vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated

Additional Requirements

• Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
• Complete employment application including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
• Work history verification for last 3 clinical employers
• Radiation badge may be required depending on assignment (not typical for Sterile Processing Techs)

Summary

This is a travel contract opportunity for an experienced Sterile Processing Tech with at least 2 years of experience and Level 1 Trauma experience. The role requires national certification (CBSPD and/or HSPA) and involves working a consistent evening shift with no weekend requirement. Candidates must be prepared to complete all required health, safety, and compliance documentation prior to starting. Prior travel experience is not required, but first-time travelers are not accepted for this role.
