Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for Neuro ICU on a travel contract. The position involves day/night rotation shifts every other weekend, with a rotation cycle every 4 weeks (subject to unit needs).
Schedule & Work Details
- Shift: 3x12-hour shifts per week (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Total Hours: Approximately 36 hours per week
- On-Call: Required
- Patient Ratio: Estimated 1:1 to 1:2
- Floating: Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in an inpatient setting
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) certification
- Experience with ventilator management
- Experience with intracranial pressure monitoring
- Proficiency with Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
Certifications Required
- BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certification only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certification only
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification - AHA certification only
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred (not required)
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check including SS trace, counties lived/worked, nationwide check, sex offender registry, and motor vehicle record if driving is part of the job
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start, with specific state codes applied
- Education verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap vaccine (adult dose)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer (medical exemptions require documentation)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (mask required if declined)
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam prior to start
- Unit-specific competency exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (with remediation process if failed)
Additional Facility-Specific Requirements
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement annually
- Fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
- Background acknowledgement form for subcontractors
- Dress code and hand hygiene policy review and signature required
- Confidential fraud, waste, and abuse compliance reporting form required
