Medical Surgical Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)
• Shift: Night (3 or 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:5 (may fluctuate with census and call-ins)
• EMR System: Meditech
• Scheduling: Every other weekend required; float within scope of practice required
• Blocked scheduling is not accommodated
• Must reside within 75 miles of the facility

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kentucky
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Additional Requirements & Notes

• Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season; exemption requests must be submitted within 48 hours of offer acceptance and approved prior to start
• Fit mask testing completed onsite; PAPRs not accommodated; religious/medical exemptions reviewed onsite
• Physical exam must be signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP
• Candidate must provide proof of completion for OSHA respirator medical evaluation, TB risk assessment, and TB test upload via employee health portal (screenshots required)
• Candidate must review fit test policy and quick badge instructions
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Blue Card required only for ER and Psych/Behavioral Health (not required for this Med Surg role)
• Prior travel experience is not required for this position

Work Environment

• Schedule follows a 36/48 hour pay period (36 hours worked, 48 hours off over two weeks)
• Orientation occurs bi-weekly
• Float assignments within scope of practice expected
• Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated

Summary

This is a 13-week travel contract for a Medical Surgical RN working night shifts in an acute care hospital setting in Kentucky. The role requires at least 2 years of recent Med Surg experience, appropriate licensure, and multiple certifications including BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke. Candidates must meet comprehensive health, background, and competency requirements and be prepared for floating and weekend work.
