Job Opportunity: Med Surg/Tele Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Auburn, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Discipline: Registered Nurse
- Specialty: Med Surg/Telemetry
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (3x12s)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend and every other holiday
- Floating: Required as per facility needs
- Start Date: ASAP
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Med Surg/Telemetry (within the past year)
- No prior travel experience explicitly required
Required Licenses and Certifications
- License: Valid RN license in New York
- Certifications:
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIHSS
Required Skills and Competencies
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Use of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Med Surg/Telemetry nursing skills
- Peripheral line care and management
- Oxygen administration (nasal cannula, oxygen tanks)
- Non-invasive airway management
- Isolation precautions
Orientation and Testing Requirements
- Pass a telemetry assessment (minimum 80%) on cardiac rhythm interpretation on the first day of orientation
- If assessment is failed, remediation and retesting during the first week of the contract
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable
Background and Health Requirements
- Background check within 1 year covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start
- Physical exam within 12 months, signed by a licensed provider confirming ability to perform job duties
- Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually
- Immunizations and screenings:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunity (2 MMR vaccines or serologic titers)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Varicella immunity (vaccines, titer, or documented history)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID vaccine records or declination
- 9 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days of start
Additional Requirements
- Professional references: 2 within last 3 years
- Skills checklist required
- Compliance with facility-specific documents including code of conduct, patient abuse reporting, confidentiality, orientation packet, and automated dispensing cabinet security
- Annual tuberculosis screening questionnaire
Call-Off Policy
- Maximum of 3 call-offs allowed during the 13-week assignment
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New York
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of Med Surg/Telemetry experience within the last year
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIHSS certification
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Use of Rapid Response/Code teams
