Job Opportunity: Trauma ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Schedule: Every other weekend required, no on-call
- Float: Float to all hospital areas including ICU, TCU, and Emergency Department for ICU and TCU holds
- Unit: Trauma ICU
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications:
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- Ability to accept first-time travel nurses
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Criminal background check within 12 months prior to start
- Negative drug screen within 12 months prior to start
- TB test (PPD, Qgold, or TSPOT) within 12 months; chest x-ray within 5 years if prior positive PPD
- OSHA Respirator Clearance prior to start (fit testing completed onsite during orientation)
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (must be renewed annually)
- COVID vaccination series preferred
- Physical exam within 1 year indicating good health
- Required facility-specific orientation modules and training, including:
- AbioMed Impella Online Training (for ICU candidates, updated annually)
- Agency Personnel Orientation Checklist (completed post-start during orientation)
- Signed confidentiality, security, and ethical conduct agreements prior to start
- Skills checklist and references as per placement standards
Additional Information
- Parking provided free in campus garage
- Requests for time off must be submitted with application; additional requests after signing are at manager discretion
- Blocked scheduling options may be considered (weekend blocks or 6 on/8 off schedule)
- Scrub color: Navy
Notes for Candidates
- Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted
- Fit testing requires candidates to be clean-shaven; refusal to comply will result in cancellation
- Candidates must complete all required documentation and training to be cleared for assignment
- This is a tertiary care academic medical center with a 356-bed capacity
