Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit; always verify unit-specific requirements

Background Checks & Verifications

  • 7-year criminal background check required within 12 months of start; must be updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Education verification required; foreign equivalency reports required for internationally educated candidates
  • Employment application must include 7-year work history with no gaps greater than 90 days
  • Work history verification required for last 7 years for all start dates on/after 8/2/2024
  • Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for MRI Techs and related units

Competency & Testing Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required within 12 months of start (85% passing score)
  • Color Blind Testing required for all candidates on/after 8/2/2024 (80% passing score)
  • Other competency exams may apply depending on unit

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 12 months of start; must be updated annually
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation required
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination highly preferred for certain specialties (not required)
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • 10 Panel Drug Screen required within 12 months of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 3/31)
  • COVID vaccination series preferred

Facility-Specific Training & Compliance

Candidates must complete and attest to the following training modules (attestations can be completed electronically):

  • Stroke Education (not required for some campuses)
  • CLABSI Prevention for Adult and Pediatric Training
  • Preventing Pressure Injury Training
  • Language Services Training
  • CAUTI Education Training (except PICU, NICU, Psychiatry/Behavioral Health)
  • Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education
  • Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training
  • Pyxis ES MedStation Modules (not required for some campuses)
  • Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
  • Patient Bedside Rounding (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED)
  • Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (not required for some campuses)
  • AME Blood Administration Module (except Case Managers, Behavioral Health/Psych, Home Health)
  • New Employee Orientation Module
  • 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for MRI Techs and other specified roles)
  • Chaperone Policy Training (required if gap >6 months or updated module)
