Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology (IR) Tech

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Interventional Radiology Tech)
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Shift: 4x10 hour days (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week (facility may low census/cancel 36 hours per contract)
  • Call Requirements:
    • Call rotation with an average of 10 call days per month, including weekends
  • Weekend Requirements: Call rotation includes weekends
  • Holiday Requirements: Must be available to work 4 out of 8 major holidays (Thanksgiving Eve, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, 12/26, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Locals: Candidates must live more than 70 miles from the facility (local candidates within 70 miles are NOT accepted)
  • Floating: No floating outside scope of practice
  • Pending License: Accepted at manager's discretion
  • Return to Office (RTO): Requests must be submitted with application; additional requests at manager's discretion

Experience & Certifications

  • Required Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
  • Epic Experience: Required

Clinical & Technical Requirements

  • Experience with Outpatient, Inpatient, and Adult ICU settings required
  • Required skills and experience with:
    • PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System)
    • C-Arm
    • Contrast and Biopsies
    • Stents, Angioplasty, Angiograms
    • Paracentesis, Thoracentesis, Nephrogram
    • Peripherals, Biopsies, Drainages
    • Vascular Studies, Venous Access
    • Neuro Studies
    • Genitourinary (GU), Abdomen and Pelvis, Upper/Lower Extremity procedures
  • Must be able to use and deploy:
    • Pushable/detachable coils
    • Micro catheters and micro wires
    • Snare Kits
    • Injector systems (preferably ACIST)

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
  • I9 and E-Verify documentation
  • Background check within 12 months (including SSN trace, 7-year county residence/work history, nationwide search, sex offender search)
  • State-specific background checks for Missouri (MO EDL Search, MO Family Care Safety Registry)
  • Physical exam within 1 year indicating good health
  • Negative drug screen within 12 months
  • TB testing (PPD, Qgold, or TSPOT within 12 months; chest x-ray within 5 years if positive PPD)
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (annual requirement)
  • COVID vaccine series preferred
  • OSHA Respirator Clearance prior to start (fit testing done onsite during orientation)
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and training (including confidentiality, ethical conduct, and respirator fit test forms)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (updated annually)
  • Skills checklist and competency exams as required

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be willing to complete all required facility-specific documents and training modules prior to or during orientation.
  • Fit testing requires candidates to be clean-shaven; refusal or inability to comply may result in cancellation.
  • Candidates must complete and submit all required post-start orientation checklists.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.

This position is ideal for IR Techs with at least 2 years of experience who are comfortable with a demanding call schedule, holiday coverage, and working in a high-acuity academic medical center environment.
