Job Opportunity: Radiology / Cardiology (Travel/Contract)

Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Details

  • Work schedule: 4 shifts of 10 hours each, plus 1 to 2 call shifts per week and 1 weekend every 6 weeks
  • Assist physicians with interventional neuro, vascular, CT/US guided procedures
  • Preferred experience with EPIC, Siemens single and Bi-plane equipment, and McKesson PACS
  • Must be proficient in scrubbing as first assist to physician, circulating, filming, and charging exams in EPIC
  • Local travelers within 75 miles are not accepted

Required Qualifications

  • Certifications: ARRT(R), BLS, RTR or RTRVI, Kentucky Radiation Operator's License (must be obtained before start date)
  • Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience in Interventional Radiology (IR) with skills in Vascular Interventional Radiology (VIR)
  • Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Required Certifications & Competencies

  • Life Support: ACLS, BLS, PALS (ENPC accepted in lieu), NRP (for Labor & Delivery)
  • Specialty Certifications: Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC preferred if applicable), TNCC, EFM, Certified First Assistant (for First Assist RNs)
  • Testing: Pass/Fail EKG/Medication exam (required for IR and related units), Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam, Color Blind Testing, Unit Specific Competency Exams, Conscious Sedation Competency Exam, RN Math Ability Competency Exam
  • State Licenses: State License verification within 30 days of start, NURSYS verification for RN/LPN/AP
  • Other: CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Blue Card (can be completed onsite)

Background Checks & Verifications

  • Criminal background checks (county, national, sex offender, FACIS III) within 1 year and updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated annually
  • Education verification or signed official transcript/diploma
  • Employment verification covering 7 years, with explanations for any gaps over 30 days
  • References: Two references verified within 6 months of start (manager/supervisor preferred)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, or PA, confirming good health and no physical limitations
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific approved masks required)
  • Immunizations:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual questionnaire
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines, booster if equivocal/negative
    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination (renewed annually)
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines, booster if equivocal/negative
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, updated annually (specific drug panels required)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required year-round with medical/religious exemptions accepted
  • COVID vaccination series or medical/religious exemption required; booster preferred but not mandatory

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete facility-specific documents including confidentiality, acceptable use, electronic communications, and password policies prior to start
  • Must review and comply with COVID-19 vendor immunization communication and policies
  • Skills checklists must be completed and updated annually, with no expiration during contract
  • Pass/Fail testing required for various units including IR, Cath Lab, ICU, ER, PACU, Telemetry, and others

This position requires a highly skilled Radiology/Cardiology professional with interventional experience, multiple certifications, and compliance with extensive background, health, and competency requirements.
