Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Must be able to proficiently harvest vein endoscopically
• CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) experience required
• Will accept STFA or RNFA
• 5 years of specialty experience strongly preferred (minimum 1+ year experience required)
• Previous travel experience strongly preferred (prior travel experience required)
• Float requirement: General department FA coverage including ortho, vascular, gyn, thoracic, and general surgeries when cardiac is not applicable
• Shift options: 8 days on/40 hours per week or 10 days on/40 hours per week
• Hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM or 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM
• Guaranteed 40 hours per week
• Call requirement: 12-18 days per month
• Weekend requirement: 2-3 weekends per month

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Required if working in Pediatrics or ED
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - Required if working in Pediatrics
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Required for all ED
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - As applicable
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement - Required
• NIH Stroke Certification - Must be updated annually
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - As applicable

Required Competencies

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (completed within 1 year prior to assignment, passing score ≥ 80%)
• Competency Exam in specialty (completed within 1 year prior to assignment, passing score ≥ 80%)
• Color Blind Testing (required for laboratory setting only)

Required Background and Health Documents

• Criminal background check within 45 days of start, including lifetime search back to age 18
• EPLS/GSA/SAM checks monthly
• HHS/OIG checks monthly
• Education verification (copy of highest degree or diploma)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test (onsite fit test required)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination (must include pertussis)
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 45 days of start
• TB questionnaire updated annually
• Immunizations or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella
• Hepatitis B titer, series, or facility declination required
• 10-panel drug test including Marijuana/THC within 45 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (for candidates starting after November 1)

State and Facility Specific Requirements

• Michigan LARA fingerprinting required within 45 days of start for certain positions
• Michigan Central Registry Clearance required for pediatric placements, RRTs, L&D, and Echo Tech Cardiac Sonographers
• Personal or auto insurance required for Home Health (if applicable)
• Review and sign facility Code of Conduct and Appearance Standards Policy
• Vaccine exemption forms required if applicable (medical or confidential vaccine exemptions)
• Dosimetry History Request Form required for Radiology specialties

Additional Requirements

• Complete application/resume with full 7 years work history, no gaps
• One professional reference from a supervisor or manager required
• Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
