Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Utica, New York

Position Details

Job Description

  • IMCU with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 4:1 depending on acuity (may be 5:1 if acuity is low)
  • Care includes drip experience with medications such as neo up to 100, precedex, and insulin at IMCU level of care
  • Rapid Time Off (RTO): 7 days or less, with only 1 holiday allowed off

Requirements

  • Licensure: New York RN License required
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NIH Stroke Certification
    • Harassment Prevention Training (New York specific)
  • Skills:
    • Epic electronic health record system experience required
    • Drip medication experience (neo, precedex, insulin)
  • Competencies:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% score)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for ICU, PCU, ER, CT ICU, and 7th Floor M/S Unit; expires every 3 years)
    • Color Blind Testing (required prior to start)
    • Competency exam with minimum passing score of 80% or higher if Angoff score is elevated

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year and updated annually (specific mask types required)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (PPD, Quantiferon Gold accepted; Tspot not accepted)
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
    • Varicella (titer, vaccine, or documented history)
  • Drug testing: 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (September 1 - March 31)
  • Pneumonia vaccination or declination required

Documentation and Onboarding

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Emergency contact form required prior to start
  • Background checks including 7-year search, sex offender registry, and federal exclusions (updated annually)
  • Education verification required
  • Facility-specific documents including photo for badge, job description acknowledgment, and online learning modules must be completed prior to first shift
  • References: 2 professional references for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles (within 3 years)
