Job Opportunity: CVOR Tech (Surgical Services)

Job Summary

Seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) surgical services. This is a travel contract position with a 13-week commitment.

Required Experience & Skills

• Specialty: Surgical Services (CVOR)
• Years of Experience: 5 years strongly preferred
• Prior Travel Experience: Requested (not strictly required, but preferred)
• Must be a certified surgical tech (NBSTSA or NCCT)
• Ability to perform a wide variety of surgical procedures related to cardiac, vascular, and thoracic cases
• Perform scrub functions including pulling necessary supplies/instrumentation and sterile field setup
• Ensure sterile procedures are followed and patient safety is maintained at all times
• Assist in setup of TCVOR room in coordination with the TCVOR team
• Call will be shared among 3 CSTs, starting at 3:00 PM and ending at 6:00 AM, including one weekend per month

Schedule & Physical Demands

• Shift: 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (5x8s) plus call
• Typical hours: 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM Monday through Friday or as required
• Call required on weekends, evenings, holidays, and off-shifts
• Must be able to tolerate physically and mentally demanding work

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NBSTSA or NCCT certification (Certified Surgical Technologist)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - required for CVOR
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - preferred for CVOR
• CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) - preferred for CVOR RNs (if applicable)

Additional Requirements

• Background check: 7-year criminal history check within a year of start, updated annually
• Physical exam: Initial and annual updates attesting ability to meet physical demands
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 30 days of start date
• Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months
• Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
• COVID-19 vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions must be submitted for review

Summary

This position is ideal for experienced CVOR Certified Surgical Technologists who are comfortable with cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgical procedures, able to work demanding shifts including call, and meet the required certifications and health screenings. Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory.
