Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (RRT)

Location: Plattsburgh, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks


Job Summary

  • Assignment duration: up to 16 weeks
  • Start date: April 6 (flexible scheduling required)
  • Must be flexible with schedule including a minimum of every other weekend and/or adjusted schedules to meet unit and patient care needs
  • Support may be needed in nursery and ER as required

Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Years of Experience: Minimum 3 years of Respiratory Therapist experience (higher value between 2-3 years)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP): Required or at least some experience/exposure to neonatal/pediatric population
  • EPIC Experience: Must have EPIC experience within the past 2 years (non-negotiable)
  • Licensure: New York state license or proof of application with applied date required at submission (NY licensing takes 6-8 weeks)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Schedule

  • Monday through Sunday coverage
  • No block schedules
  • Bi-weekly orientations on Mondays

Transportation

  • Public transportation is NOT accessible in this area
  • Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended
  • Vehicles should have all-season or snow tires from November through April

Certifications & Verifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certified
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certified
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA certified
  • National Tech Certification verification within 30 days of assignment start
  • State License primary source verification within 30 days of start and upon expiration
  • Background check within 30 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education verification as applicable
  • Skills checklist within 12 months
  • Work history verification for the past 2 years
  • 2 professional references from assignments within the last 3 years

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • N95 Fit Mask test prior to assignment start and updated annually (specific acceptable mask types)
  • Immunizations/vaccinations:
    • Tdap within 10 years or titer
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray if positive, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B series and titer or signed declination
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine or exemption (NY and VT requirements differ slightly)
    • COVID-19 vaccination or declination
    • Pneumonia vaccination or declination (required for NY facilities)
  • Drug testing within 12 months of start (required for NY facilities)

Additional Requirements

  • Completion of EPIC and Cornerstone modules prior to start (approx. 8 hours, non-billable)
  • Photo for badge (passport style, plain background, no logos or hats) required two weeks prior to start
  • Auto insurance required if using personal or rental vehicle
  • Various facility-specific policies and forms must be reviewed and completed prior to start (dress code, telephone usage, emergency contact, abuse registry consent, COVID questionnaire, etc.)
  • COVID testing protocol on Day 1 of work (may require early arrival for testing)
  • Must explain any employment gaps over 90 days
  • Complete all required documentation and verifications timely to avoid delays
