Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) with a desired start date of February 23rd or March 9th. This is a travel/contract position with no return-to-office (RTO) requirement during the first two weeks.
Required Experience
- Minimum 1+ year recent ICU experience (higher experience requirement confirmed)
- First-time travelers are welcome (no prior travel experience required)
Work Details
- Patient Ratios:
- ICU and PCU patients mix with ratios ranging from 1:1 to 4:1 depending on acuity
- Ventilated patients typically 2:1
- High acuity patients (Cooling/CRRT) 1:1
- Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
- Float Requirement: Float to other ICU and Med-Surg units as needed
- Typical Med-Surg nurse to patient ratio: 1:5-7

Average of 3 ventilated patients per day on the unit.
Certifications Required
- Michigan RN License (pending license acceptable with proof of application and ETA)
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
- NIH Stroke Certification
Additional Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 30 days of start
- Proof of Tdap vaccine
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination form
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption (for candidates starting after November 1)
- 10-panel drug test including Marijuana/THC within 30 days of start
- Background checks including criminal history, education verification, and state-specific clearances
- Completion of required competency exams and skills checklists within 1 year prior to assignment
- Completion of facility-specific documents such as Code of Conduct and Appearance Standards Policy
Work Environment
- ICU with a mix of PCU and general medical/transfer patients
- Floating to med-surg units as census fluctuates
- Collaborative environment with ICU physicians retaining patients as needed

This MICU RN travel contract position in Michigan requires at least 1 year of recent ICU experience, with no prior travel experience necessary. The role involves caring for critically ill patients with a variety of complex diagnoses and requires strong skills in cardiac monitoring, respiratory care, IV therapy, and emergency response.
