Job Opportunity: EP Lab Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Job Description

  • Work day/evening shifts (8/10/12 hours), Monday to Friday, with on-call duties requiring 30-minute response time on weeknights and weekends.
  • Join a multidisciplinary team providing care to adult and geriatric patients undergoing complex cardiovascular procedures and diagnostic cardiac catheterizations in a nationally recognized Cardiac Catheterization Lab.
  • Practice in a patient- and family-centered environment using advanced technology and minimally invasive techniques for structural heart interventions, advanced interventional procedures, and heart transplant services.
  • Collaborate with physicians, fellows, and researchers in an academic medical center setting.
  • Participate in shared governance and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support high-acuity cardiovascular care with a focus on electrophysiology (EP) procedures including invasive diagnostic and interventional electrophysiology and device implantation.
  • Responsibilities include patient assessment, medication administration, moderate sedation, hemodynamic monitoring, circulating and scrubbing during EP and other invasive procedures, and patient/family education.
  • Flexibility in work schedule is required.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years of inpatient ICU-level nursing experience OR prior cardiac cath lab nursing experience (preferred).
  • Recent cardiovascular laboratory and/or electrophysiology laboratory nursing experience required.
  • Moderate sedation experience required.
  • Must have completed at least 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years.
  • Basic arrhythmia experience required; must pass telemetry test prior to start.
  • Epic electronic health record experience required, preferably within the last 12 months.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Wisconsin nursing license or compact license from permanent address state required.
  • BLS and ACLS certification through the American Heart Association required.
  • Previous critical care experience with emphasis on cardiology is required.

Additional Requirements

  • Traveler’s permanent address must be within 50 miles of the work site.
  • Floating: Travelers may be assigned shifts in multiple units or locations depending on staffing needs.
  • Must demonstrate competency in care for adolescent through geriatric patient populations.

Compliance & Testing

  • Must pass facility-specific telemetry testing (Adult and/or Pediatric as applicable) prior to start and annually thereafter.
  • Required to complete medication/pharmacology competency exams and other competency assessments as applicable.
  • Background checks, education verifications, and state-specific caregiver screenings are mandatory.
  • Facility requires various health documents including immunizations (MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B), TB testing, flu vaccination or approved exemption, and drug screening per facility and agency standards.
