• Experience Requirements:

  • Must have prior experience in an urban, Level I Trauma ED
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required (first-timers accepted)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Preferred Certifications:

• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)

Documentation & Compliance Requirements

• Driver’s License/State ID
• Background Checks:

  • 7-year background check including aliases, sex offender, national and federal checks
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Education Verification: ADN or BSN required; diploma/transcripts acceptable if verification unavailable
• State License Verification: Must be verified within 30 days of assignment start
• NURSYS Verification: Required within 30 days of start for RNs
• References: 2 required
• Employment Application: Resume with last 7 years of employment, explanation for gaps over 30 days
• Skills Checklist: Required and must be updated annually
• Work History Verification: 7 years of employment verification required
• Fingerprinting: Required if no Illinois state license; must be completed in Illinois and added to the Illinois Department of Public Health Registry

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical Exam: Within 1 year, updated annually
• Fit Mask Test: Required within 1 year of start (specific mask models required)
• Immunizations & Titers: Must be completed within 2 business days of contract signing

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (if positive TB)
  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (declination allowed)
  • Varicella
• Drug Testing: Negative 9-panel within 30 days of start
• Flu Vaccination: Required for flu season (10/1 to 3/31); religious or medical exemptions require facility approval
• COVID-19 Exemption Forms: Religious and medical exemption forms available and must be submitted at least one week prior to documentation due date

Additional Notes

• Photo for badge required (passport style, plain background, no headgear)
• Facility orientation modules (~2 hours) must be completed before clearance/start
• Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted

This position is ideal for RNs with at least 1 year of ER experience in a Level I Trauma urban setting who hold the required certifications and meet the health and compliance requirements.
