Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - IR PACU (Travel/Contract)

Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Contract Length: 14 weeks

Job Details

• Position: IR PACU Nurse
• Shift: Rotating start times at 6:00 AM, 7:00 AM, or 8:00 AM
• Weekly Hours: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (shift times vary based on unit needs)
• Late stays: 3-4 required per 6 weeks
• Patient Population: Must have experience caring for pediatric patients
• Experience Required:

  • Minimum 1 year ICU experience
  • IR PACU experience with phase 1 recovery required
• Certifications Required:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required prior to start (ENPC acceptable in lieu of PALS)
• Local travelers within 100 miles are not accepted

Required Experience

• Specialty: Registered Nurse with IR PACU and ICU experience
• Minimum Years of Experience: 1 year ICU experience (highest requirement)
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Certifications & Competencies

• ACLS, BLS, PALS (or ENPC), NIH Stroke Certification
• Other possible certifications depending on unit:

  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
• Competency exams including:

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
  • Color Blind Testing
  • Unit Specific Competency Exams
  • Conscious Sedation Competency Exam
  • RN Math Ability Competency Exam
• Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for ICU, IR, PACU, and other units

Background Checks & Verifications

• Criminal Background Check (county, national, sex offender, FACIS III) within 1 year and updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated annually
• Education Verification or signed official transcript
• State License Verification within 30 days of start
• NURSYS Verification within 30 days of start
• Employment Verification for last 7 years
• References: Two references verified within 6 months of start (manager or supervisor preferred)
• Skills Checklists updated annually

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical Exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Fit Mask test within 1 year, updated annually (N95 or equivalent)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, renewed annually
• TB Questionnaire annually if history of positive TB
• Immunizations or positive titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (series or positive titer or declination)
  • Varicella
• Drug Testing within 1 year of start, updated annually (specific panels required)
• Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption required annually
• COVID vaccination series or approved medical/religious exemption required
• COVID Booster preferred but not required

Additional Notes

• Must be willing to obtain PALS certification prior to start if not currently held
• Pass/Fail EKG exam required with only two attempts allowed; failure results in cancellation
• Candidates must renew all expiring documents prior to clearance for assignment
• Non-local candidates only (no local travelers within 100 miles)

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with IR PACU and ICU backgrounds who are comfortable with pediatric care and flexible shift start times.
