Job Details

  • Schedule: 5x8 hour shifts, start time 0630 or 0730
  • Call: Rotating weekends and evenings

Experience & Skills Required

  • Minimum 2 years experience required, 3 years preferred
  • Nuclear Medicine (Nuc Med) and CT Tech experience required
  • Skills in adult hospital nuclear cardiology procedures including but not limited to:
    • Phillips and Siemens equipment
    • Gastric Emptying, HIDA Scan, Muga Scan, PET Scan
    • 3 Phase, Limited, Whole Body scans
    • Cerebral Blood Flow, Liver Flow, Liver Imaging, Liver Scan-Hemangioma
    • Perfusion and Ventilation/Perfusion scans
    • Captopril, Flow/Function, Renal/Perfusion, Three Phase with Lasix
    • I-123 Uptake Scan, Uptake Scan (Limited and Whole Body)
    • Bone, Brain, Liver, Renal scans
    • Sestamibi parathyroid scan
    • Adenosine infusion, Exercise/Rest (Multiple and Single), Persantine Infusion
    • Pharmacological Stress, Thallium stress test
  • Additional skills:
    • Drawing venous blood
    • Isolation precautions
    • Starting and maintaining IVs
    • Handling and disposal of radioactive materials
    • PET/CT operation

Certifications Required

  • CNMT (Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist)
  • State License
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - preferably AHA or Red Cross
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - preferably AHA or Red Cross
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA/ARP required
  • National Tech Certification as applicable
  • State License verification (primary source online)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required for MedSurg, ER, Tele, ICU; must be updated annually)
  • Harassment Prevention Training Certificate (update every 2 years)

Competency Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
  • Competency Exam (as applicable)
  • Age Specific Competency Exam
  • California Harassment Prevention Training (update every 2 years)

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Candidates must bring copies of NIH Stroke Certification and Stroke Education Post Test and Evaluation to orientation
  • Intro to Stroke class required for MedSurg, ER, Tele, and ICU RNs (4-hour free class at facility or accepted equivalent within last year)
  • Passport-style photo for badge (color, recent, professional attire, no filters or selfies)
  • Completion of Latex Allergy Questionnaire prior to start
  • Pharmacology Study Guide review and exam on first day of orientation (80% required to pass, multiple attempts allowed)
  • Completion of Net Learning Modules prior to start (facility will provide access)
  • Stroke Education Packet Post Test and Evaluation must be completed prior to start and brought to orientation
  • Automated Shortage Request Form must be signed prior to start
  • EMR Confidentiality & HIPAA form with handwritten signature required for EPIC access
  • Parking Registration Form must be completed prior to start
  • Temporary Worker Education must be reviewed and completed prior to start
  • HIPAA Privacy & Security Training Certificate required for EMR access (completion via quiz and printed certificate)

Health and Background Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, must state "cleared without restrictions" and include latex info
  • Fit test within 1 year for PAPR or 3M N95 mask
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (or TD within 2 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot as applicable)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Proof of immunity by titer or vaccination as per birth year and facility policy
  • Hepatitis B: Titer, declination, or vaccine series
  • Varicella: Titer, vaccination, or history of chickenpox
  • 10 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days of start
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or Declination required during flu season (Nov-April); mask required if declining
  • COVID-19 Vaccine preferred but not required (optional as of Jan 2025)

Background Checks

  • Standard 7-year background check including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, and sex offender registry
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks must be done annually

References

  • Two professional references required for travel, allied, and per diem acute care roles
  • One professional reference required for per diem non-acute care roles

Note: Return to Office (RTO) documentation must be submitted upfront.
