Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (Cath Lab)

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Role: RN Circulator in Cath Lab (diagnostic and interventional PCI environment)
• Patient Ratios: 1:1
• Shift: 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts with rotating on-call including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Floating: Yes, within service line
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Local candidates not accepted (must live at least 75 miles from facility)
• Pending license accepted
• Guaranteed 40 hours per week

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse license in Missouri
• Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience, with experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing

Patient Diagnoses & Procedures

• Common Diagnoses: AMI, Chest pain, Heart failure, NSTEMI, Aortic Stenosis, V-Tach, Endocarditis, Afib, Peripheral vascular disease, Sick sinus syndrome
• Procedures: Diagnostic and interventional PCI, conscious sedation, sterile supply management, vital signs assessment, EPIC documentation
• Equipment: EPIC documentation system, Impella, IABP

Schedule & Work Conditions

• On-call required with rotating schedule including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• No block scheduling accommodation
• Floating within scope to meet unit needs
• No local candidates accepted

Compliance & Background Requirements

• Government-issued ID required
• Criminal background check within 6 months (7-year search including statewide, nationwide, sex offender, and international if applicable)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required quarterly
• Education verification of highest nursing degree required
• Fingerprinting required for Illinois long-term care or rehab units (not applicable here)
• Drug testing within 1 year, must include specific panels and be valid throughout assignment
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test required annually (N95 respirators)
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap vaccine or declination
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination
  • Flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption during flu season
• Additional facility-specific forms and acknowledgments (HIPAA, confidentiality, hand hygiene, dress code, latex allergy, etc.) must be completed prior to start

Competency & Skills Testing

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required as applicable
• Unit-specific competency exams required annually
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year and updated annually for Cath Lab RNs
• Skills checklist required within 1 year of start

Orientation & Training

• Orientation modules required through WorkRamp (~16 hours) unless completed in current calendar year
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or MAB certification if applicable by unit
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., TNCC, NIH Stroke Certification)

• Candidates must adhere to facility policies including fingernail, dress code, and hand hygiene policies
• Parking information and costs vary; night shift parking may be free
