Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: La Jolla, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse for a travel/contract position in a Level 1 Trauma / Neuro Surgical Trauma unit. The role may require floating to like or lower acuity units (excluding ED) within the hospital system and working at different hospital locations as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
• Certifications:

  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Required Licenses

• Valid California RN license (Primary Source Verification required within 30 days of start)

Prior Travel Experience

• Not explicitly required

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Proof of N95 fit test within 1 year prior to start (specific approved mask models required)
• Tdap vaccine (no declinations accepted)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
• Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (2 vaccines or titer with boosters if needed)
• Hepatitis B vaccination series, titer, or signed declination
• 9-panel drug test within 1 year of start
• Flu vaccination or agency flu declination required year-round
• COVID-19 vaccination required (medical or religious exemptions accepted with approval)
• Two satisfactory references
• Employment application and skills checklist required

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Completion of Scripps Learning Modules (approx. 8 hours) prior to start
• Pyxis Acknowledgment signed prior to start
• Standards of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement signed prior to start (annual renewal)
• Vaccine Attestation form completed regardless of vaccination status
• Must have 6 months or more experience with EPIC or Cerner electronic health records (less than 6 months may result in cancellation)

Additional Notes

• No scrub color requirement; scrubs provided for OR and Labor & Delivery units
• Floating may exclude Emergency Department (ED)
• Traveler will be contacted 2 hours before shift if floating to a different location

This position is ideal for ICU RNs with trauma and neuro surgical trauma experience who are flexible with floating and weekend/holiday shifts.
