Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Job Details

• Work schedule includes every other weekend and one winter and one summer holiday (dependent on contract length).
• No local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius or specified counties in the Albany Health System area.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in New York State.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as an RRT.
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system.

Prior Travel Experience

• No explicit requirement for prior travel experience mentioned.

Required Documentation and Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID).
• Background checks including 7-year history, sex offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start date.
• Negative TB test (2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold) within 1 year.
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start.
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Measles (Rubeola): 2 MMR boosters or positive titer required.
  • Mumps: 2 MMR boosters or positive titer required.
  • Rubella: 2 MMR boosters or positive titer required.
  • Varicella: 2 boosters or positive titer required.
  • Hepatitis B: Titer, declination, or vaccine series required.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required by December 5, 2024. Mask required if exempt.
• Color blindness test (Ishihara’s test) required prior to start.

Competency and Testing Requirements

• Must pass advanced EKG/ECG test with a minimum 90% score within 72 hours of contract signing.
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required.

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Passport-style photo for badge.
• Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start date.
• Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training (New York State requirement for RNs and LPNs).
• Lift assessment (typically 25 lbs, may vary by position).
• Completion of various facility-specific forms including TSH Medical History, N95 OSHA questionnaire, PPD questionnaire, and others during occupational health appointment or orientation.

• Candidates must not reside in specified local counties within the Albany Health System area.
• References: 2 professional references required for travel, allied, and per diem acute care roles.
