Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Templeton, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Deliver coordinated nursing care for assigned patients according to established standards and nursing process.
- Supervise and direct activities of assigned nursing staff.
- Coordinate care with other disciplines using critical thinking, professional discretion, and independent judgment.
- Participate in discharge planning and provide patient/family education.
- Delegate and coordinate duties of healthcare team members.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Acute care facility experience preferred.
- Required specialty experience: Registered Nurse (no specific years stated, assume minimum 2 years typical for travel RN roles).
Licenses & Certifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in California (state of practice).
- CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced certifications may be required depending on unit:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or MAB (Management of Assaultive Behavior) depending on unit.
Prior Travel Experience

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
Current picture identification (Driver’s License or State ID).
Background check within 30 days of start, covering last 7 years of residence and work history.
Drug testing within 30 days before start.
Physical exam within 90 days of start.

- TDAP vaccination within 10 years or positive titer (declinations accepted).
- Negative TB test (QGold/TSpot or 2 PPDs) within 30 days of start, updated annually.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) - positive titer, 2 vaccines, or signed declination.
- Hepatitis B - positive titer, series, or signed declination.
- Varicella - positive titer, 2 vaccines, or signed declination.
- Seasonal flu vaccine or facility-specific declination/exemption required during flu season (10/31 - 04/30).
- COVID-19 seasonal booster or facility-specific declination required.
Competency exams required through Relias platform:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (annual update required).
- Conscious Sedation competency exam (if applicable).
- Telemetry unit requires MS/Tele exam.
Color Blind Testing online required for all candidates.
Unit-specific skills checklist required.
Two clinical references verified within one year of start.
Complete employment application/resume with 7-year work history including gaps.
