Job Details
- Employment Type: Per Diem
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Orientation:
- Held at Providence Office Park Building near Portland Medical Center
- Every other Monday (specific dates provided for 2024 and 2025)
- Float Pool:
- Badge grants access to multiple Providence locations in Oregon
- Must be willing to float to any selected location
- Assignment location given 2 hours before shift confirmation

- Providence Milwaukie Hospital (59 beds, Short Term Acute Care, Teaching Hospital)
- Providence Portland Medical Center (420 beds, Short Term Acute Care, Teaching Hospital)
- Providence Saint Vincent Medical Center (536 beds, Short Term Acute Care, Teaching Hospital)
- Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center (109 beds, Short Term Acute Care)
- Providence Newberg Medical Center (60 beds, Short Term Acute Care, Level IV Trauma Center)
- Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital (25 beds, Critical Access, Level III Trauma Center)
- Providence Seaside Hospital (25 beds, Critical Access Hospital)
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year experience in specialty
- BLS & ACLS certifications (must be AHA)
- EPIC experience required
- 2 references required (Charge RN or Supervisor) covering:
- 6 months for CNAs
- 1 year for RNs

- Medication System: Pyxis
Certifications Required (Per Diem - Providence Seaside Hospital)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required for all candidates
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required for ICU, ER, L&D, MS/Tele, Tele, and PCU RNs
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Required for ER RNs and Pediatric ER
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - Required for L&D RN and NICU RN
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - Required for L&D RNs
- NIH Stroke Certification - Required for ICU, ER, Tele & PCU RNs
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Not required for Per Diem
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - Not required for Per Diem
- Tech Cert Verification - CNAs: No tech cert required
Compliance and Documentation
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start (signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO)
- Background Check within 25 days of start for Per Diem (covering last 7 years)
- Drug Testing: 10 Panel Drug Screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Immunizations and Health Requirements:
- TDAP (within 10 years or declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 12 months (updated annually)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer or declination
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer or declination
- Flu Vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID-19 Vaccine or declination (required if onsite)
- Fit Mask testing (not required for Per Diem effective 5/20/24)
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year employment within last 3 years (6 months for CNAs)
- Employment Application covering at least last 5 years of employment
Training and Modules
- Completion of Providence-specific WorkRamp Core and Specialty Modules required prior to start
- Epic training modules must be completed within a week of orientation
- Badge photo required (passport style, neutral background, recent within 6 months)
- Float Policy Acknowledgement required (willingness to float to other Providence facilities)
Additional Notes
- 3-month separation policy between Providence assignments
- Must be willing to float within the Providence Oregon hospital system locations
- Per Diem candidates are not required to support Oregon Child Center facilities
- NURSYS license verification required for all RNs
- Education Verification required unless already verified
- Skills checklists required annually for applicable units
