Job Description

• Provide rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatment interventions to patients with physical functioning disorders under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.
• Utilize evidence-based practice to support clinical interventions.
• Administer procedures including manual techniques, ambulation, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and use of supportive and assistive devices.
• Assess patient progress and communicate with supervising Physical Therapist to adjust treatments accordingly.
• Report treatment outcomes and provide consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers.
• Communicate effectively with supervisor and healthcare team regarding patient progress, barriers, and treatment plans.
• Provide input for discharge summaries.
• Document all required clinical and regulatory information accurately in electronic records.
• Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, rehabilitation meetings, and required trainings.
• Collaborate with supervising Physical Therapist to obtain necessary durable medical equipment (DME) or supplies.
• Supervise and support students under the guidance of the Physical Therapist.
• Adhere to APTA and state practice acts, code of conduct, and ethics.
• Maintain active state licensure.

Work Hours & Productivity

• 8-hour shifts, typically 7-12 patients per day depending on case mix.
• Treatment times approximately 1 hour for Medicare B patients, 30-35 minutes for Medicare A and managed care.
• Group therapy allowed to help with productivity.
• Dedicated device provided for documentation.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of PTA experience (highest required specialty experience).
• Experience in Long-Term Care (LTC) or Rehabilitation settings required.
• Active PTA license.
• Missouri state license required; compact license allowed.
