Telemetry Float Pool Nurse Opportunity

Location: Chandler Regional Medical Center, Chandler, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Overview

Seeking experienced nurses with 2+ years of current telemetry experience for a travel contract in the MS/Telemetry float pool. Candidates must have active BLS, ACLS, and Arizona license or compact license. Ability to titrate cardiac drips is required.

Travelers will float frequently between Chandler Regional Medical Center and Mercy Gilbert campus (9 miles apart). Floating includes various units such as ICU, Cardiac Tele, MedSurg, Cath Lab, ER, observation floor, and other holding areas. Notification of unit and campus is given 1.5 hours before shift start. Mid-shift floating to different units may occur.


Requirements

  • 2+ years telemetry nursing experience
  • Active BLS, ACLS, and AZ license or compact license
  • Ability to titrate cardiac drips (Amio, Cardene, Nitro, Heparin, Dobutamine to titrate down only)
  • Pass dysrhythmia exam prior to contract signing (2 attempts max)
  • Pass a pass/fail simulation lab on day 1 of orientation
  • COVID vaccine required or approved declination form
  • Must be able to interpret EKGs (centralized telemetry monitoring)

Floating Expectations

  • Float between all Tele and MedSurg units, including ICU and Cardiac Tele
  • Float between Chandler and Mercy Gilbert campuses
  • Floating to different units mid-shift possible
  • Must clock out/in when moving between campuses

Telemetry B3A (CV Tele)

  • Beds: 32
  • Ratios: 1:3-4
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Charge Nurse: Yes (no patient assignment)
  • Techs: 1 PCT per 16 patients
  • Shifts: 12 hours (7am-7pm)
  • Ventilators: No
  • Hospitalist: Rounds during day, on call at night
  • RT and Pharmacy: 24/7 coverage
  • Orientation: 2 days floor-specific
  • Patient Types: Post cath lab, post vascular procedures, day 2 CABG, general telemetry
  • Notes: No pediatrics (patients 15+ years)

Tele Neuro (A3 Neuro)

  • Beds: 28
  • Ratios: 1:3-4
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Charge Nurse: Yes (no patient assignment)
  • Techs: 1 PCT per 16 patients
  • Shifts: 12 hours (7am-7pm)

Medical-Surgical C5

  • Beds: 32 (Ortho, Surgical, Oncology)
  • Ratios: 1:4 (days and nights)
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS
  • Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period (including one major and one minor holiday)
  • Charge Nurse: Yes (no patient assignment)
  • Nurse Aides: PCTs on days; 1 PCT or Task RN at night
  • Shifts: 12 hours (7am-7pm)
  • Ventilators: N/A
  • Hospitalist: Must call physician
  • RT and Pharmacy: 24/7 coverage (ICU pharmacist on days)
  • Orientation: 2 shifts floor-specific
  • Floating: To MedSurg Tele B2C and B2D
  • Patient Types: 80% Surgical (including JHACO certified knee/hip program), 20% Oncology
  • Notes: Spectralink phones (call light attached to phone)

Medical-Surgical B2C

  • Beds: 29
  • Ratios: 1:4 (days and nights)
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS
  • Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period (including one major and one minor holiday)
  • Charge Nurse: Yes (no patient assignment)
  • Nurse Aides: PCTs on days; 1 PCT or SWAT RN at night
  • Shifts: 12 hours (7am-7pm)
  • Ventilators: N/A
  • Hospitalist: Must call physician
  • RT and Pharmacy: 24/7 coverage (ICU pharmacist on days)
  • Orientation: 2 shifts floor-specific
  • Floating: To MedSurg Tele C5 and B2D
  • Patient Types: General MedSurg patients requiring telemetry
  • Notes: Spectralink phones; new grad training unit with clinical scholar mentorship for 4 weeks

Additional Notes

  • Dysrhythmia exam must be passed within 48 hours of offer; failure results in removal from contract eligibility for 6 months
  • Simulation lab on day 1 of orientation is pass/fail; failure results in removal from contract eligibility for 6 months
  • Scrub color for all units: Navy
  • Centralized telemetry monitoring with requirement to interpret EKGs
  • No ventilator patients on these units
  • Weekend and holiday shift requirements apply

This position is ideal for telemetry nurses comfortable with floating across multiple units and campuses, able to titrate cardiac drips, and willing to work 12-hour shifts with weekend and holiday rotations.
