Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU (Progressive Care Unit), 4th Floor East Wing
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (12-hour shifts, 06:30–18:30)
Hours per Week: 36
Unit: 4th Floor East Wing, PCU
Level of Care: Progressive Care Unit
Number of Beds: 55
Patient Population: Primarily adults; occasionally patients 15 years and older
Unit Details
- RN-to-patient ratio: 1:4 (both day and night shifts)
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- Nursing assistant support available
- Charge nurse present
- Additional support staff: Educator, Care Managers, Social Workers, Dieticians, Physical and Occupational Therapists
- Common patient diagnoses: CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, COVID-19, subdural hematoma, weakness
- Common drips/medications: PCA pumps (pain management), cardizem, insulin
- Specialty equipment: Mechanical lifts in every other room
- IV pumps: Alaris
- EMR system: EPIC
- Scrubs: Navy blue for nurses, ceiling blue for CNAs
- Float assignments: Yes, ideally to Medical-Surgical areas based on highest need
- Unit challenges: Staffing
- Patient experience focus: Hourly rounding and responsiveness

Required Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Telemetry competency required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) knowledge preferred
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license appropriate for Nebraska
- Must pass a pass/fail exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% (open book, covering skills learned)
- Must comply with fingernail policy: artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove will result in contract termination
- Driver’s license required at time of application to verify candidate’s location within a 50-mile radius of the facility
- Candidates may not currently be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with the specified health system or its affiliates
