  • 36 hours guaranteed per week

Location

  • Kearney, Nebraska

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license
  • 2 years of unit experience
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NIHSS
  • Competent in arterial lines
  • Driver’s license required at submittal

Schedule

  • 0630-1830 or 1830-0630
  • Every other weekend
  • Minimum of 2 holidays during the contract
  • Floating may be required to MedSurg or ICU to take PCU-acuity patients

Unit Details

  • PCU
  • 40 beds
  • Average daily census of 24
  • Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-5 on days and nights
  • Charge nurse is present each shift and takes an assignment
  • Nurse aides/patient care techs are present at a ratio of 1:12
  • RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips
  • RNs are required to titrate drips
  • Common drips include heparin, nitro, dopamine, Cardizem, amiodarone, and insulin
  • High-flow respiratory support is used on the unit

Additional Information

  • 1 day of unit-specific orientation
  • Navy blue scrubs
  • Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
  • RTO must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
  • Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity
  • Must be able to arrive within 30 minutes if called back in after being placed on call
