ER (Emergency Room) RN

Overview

• 13-week assignment in Chandler, Arizona
• 12-hour day/evening shifts, 36 hours per week
• Unit: ER
• 60 beds, including 14 fast track beds
• Bedside triage
• Float scope: between Gilbert and Chandler ER, possibly mid-shifts

Required Qualifications

• Active BLS
• Active ACLS
• Active ATCN or TNCC
• Active AZ license or compact license
• 2 years of ER/TRAUMA LEVEL 1 experience, recent within the past year
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam upon acceptance, with 2 maximum attempts
• Must pass a PASS/FAIL Sim Lab on day 1 of orientation
• COVID vaccine required, or declination form with supporting documentation

Preferred Qualifications

• PALS or ENPC

Schedule Requirements

• Must be flexible to work all listed shifts
• Minimum 4 weekend shifts per schedule period
• Must work 2 of 3 holidays during the holiday season
• First to float

Clinical Setting

• Charge nurse present
• Unit secretary present
• Paramedics and CNAs support tech duties
• RT available 24/7
• Pharmacy available 24/7
• ER pharmacist available on days, 5 days/week
• Moderate conscious sedation competency testing
• Common diagnoses include trauma, MVAs, GSW, blunt trauma, piercing trauma, CVA, MI, high risk OB, psych holds, cardioversions, and conscious sedation for closed fractures
• Chest pain center and certified stroke center
• 11% pediatric population
• Patients younger than 15 are stabilized and transferred

• Ventilator equipment includes Puritan Benette 840, Dreager, Vision Bipap, and V60s
• 2-3 days of floor-specific orientation
• Lab draws are performed unless central line access is needed
