Location

  • Omaha, Nebraska

Job Description

  • Provide respiratory care services primarily in NICU and adult floors or adult ICUs.
  • NICU assignment is not guaranteed every shift; priority is given to permanent staff.
  • Duties include basic floor care respiratory therapy such as nebulizers, MDIs, bronchial hygiene (CPT), volume expansion (PEP), CPAP & BiPAP for all ages (infant to geriatric).
  • Required skills include:
    • Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) and/or Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU) experience with familiarity in Servoi, SiPAP, Sensormedics 3100A (HFOV) ventilators, and blood gas analysis.
    • Adult Intensive Care Unit (AICU) experience with familiarity in Servoi ventilators, extubation protocols, and arterial blood gases (ABGs).
  • Electronic charting experience required (EPIC system).
  • Use of supply and medication pyxis machines.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in floor care therapy.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in intensive care therapy.
  • NICU level 4 experience is ideal.
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) if working in Adult ICU
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) if working in NICU
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred but not required for NICU/adult care.

Schedule

  • Full-time 12-hour shifts, options include:
    • Days for Floors/AICU coverage (3 days/week including weekends)
    • Nights for NICU/PICU coverage (3 days/week including weekends)
    • Varied hours for floors (days, evenings, nights), full-time
  • No required call, but may be on call list for additional shifts.

Orientation and Training

  • Orientation consists of five to six shifts of 8-12 hours each.
  • Additional training provided as needed.

Work Environment

  • Patient load varies based on workload.
  • Lead Therapist available 24/7 for support.
  • Additional support staff available during regular business hours.

Dress Code

  • Scrubs (any color) or business casual.

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Shift Details

  • Night shift
  • 12 hours per day, approximately 36 hours per week
