Registered Nurse (Night Shift)

Location: Hanover, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 6 weeks
Shift: 11 PM – 7 AM
Hours per Week: 38


Job Summary

Provide monitoring and supervision to ensure quality care for all residents during the shift. Act as the manager on duty during evening and night shifts, overseeing nursing personnel and resident care.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality of resident, family, and personnel information.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels, including managing call-offs and staff reallocation.
  • Collaborate with attending physicians in resident care and prepare charts for physician visits.
  • Observe, assess, and monitor resident health; communicate findings and coordinate follow-up care.
  • Review clinical records for accuracy and timeliness; document observations, assessments, and progress notes.
  • Update care plans as treatment changes occur.
  • Oversee orientation of new nursing staff on the shift.
  • Communicate resident health status to families and resolve concerns.
  • Serve as liaison between residents, families, and physicians; interpret doctor orders and provide education.
  • Prepare daily reports and communicate significant information to the relieving supervisor.
  • Provide direct resident care as needed and model nursing practices.
  • Supervise nursing staff to ensure sound judgment, safety, and quality care.
  • Participate in planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care plans.
  • Report severe issues, reportable events, resident/family concerns, and suspected abuse or neglect promptly.
  • Implement emergency plans during disasters or emergencies.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum of 2 years of Long Term Care experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience in supervisory nursing roles
  • Geriatrics experience

Physical Requirements

  • Standing and walking constantly throughout the campus during the shift.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds multiple times per shift to assist with resident lifts and transfers.
  • Must be able to respond quickly and decisively in emergency situations.
