Job Opportunity: Cardiac Surgery Tech (Operating Room)
Location: Corvallis, Oregon
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Function as a surgical team member in the operating room under the supervision of an RN.
- Primary focus on cardiac open heart surgery with flexibility to assist in all OR areas as needed.
- Provide care to patients of all ages, including pediatrics and geriatrics, ensuring quality nursing care.
Department Description
- Operating Room specializing in cardiac care for surgical and procedural sedation patients.
- Patient population includes pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and elderly.
- Collaborate with various provider specialties for patients discharged the same day or admitted.
Experience & Qualifications
Cardiac experience is required.
Current certification to practice surgical technology in Oregon is mandatory.
Must meet one of the following education/experience options:
Option 1:
- Completion of a surgical technologist training program in the U.S. Armed Forces or U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps.
- 16 hours of relevant continuing education every two years.
Option 2:
- Completion of a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited surgical technology education program.
- Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or completion of the accredited program within the past 12 months.
Option 3:
- At least 2 years of surgical technology practice between Jan 1, 2014, and Jan 1, 2017, in a hospital, ambulatory surgical center, or federal agency.
- 16 hours of relevant continuing education every two years.
- 1 year scrubbing experience in CVOR/Open Heart procedures OR 2 years acute care scrubbing experience.
Required Specialty Experience: Minimum 2 years (based on Option 3 requirement).
Certifications: Healthcare Provider BLS required.
Experience or training in computer applications is preferred.
