Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) – Contract Position

Location: Salinas, California
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Sunday-Thursday
Hours per Week: 35


Job Summary

Join a collaborative interdisciplinary rehabilitation team in a skilled nursing and short-term rehabilitation setting. Treat a diverse patient population with orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, and medically complex conditions. Provide skilled occupational therapy treatments under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to help patients regain independence and improve quality of life.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver skilled occupational therapy treatments following individualized plans.
  • Improve activities of daily living (ADL), functional mobility, upper extremity function, cognition, safety awareness, and overall independence.
  • Document treatments accurately using electronic medical records.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team on patient progress and discharge planning.
  • Educate patients, caregivers, and staff on adaptive equipment, home safety, and functional strategies.
  • Maintain compliance with Medicare, state, and facility documentation standards.
  • Participate in care conferences and team meetings as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant license in California
  • BLS certification
