Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: Portland, Maine
Employment Type: Travel
Shift: Night shift (7 PM - 7:30 AM)
Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
Call Requirements: Yes, 2 hours for the oncoming shift
Contract Length: 26 weeks

Job Description

Full-time night shift respiratory therapist needed to replace a staff member leaving due to health reasons.
Recruitment is challenging with multiple open positions in the department.
Float requirements include working as an RRT in NICU/PICU, acute care pediatrics, emergency department, as well as adult acute and critical care.
Work involves covering the entire facility as part of a team of 14-16 RRTs.

Patient Care & Environment

Patient Ratios:
- Acute care: 1:25
- Critical care: 1:8
Equipment used includes various ventilators and respiratory devices (e.g., Drager V500, Hamilton T1, Respironics V30, Trilogy line).
Electronic Medical Record system: EPIC
Facility is a tertiary, teaching hospital with level 1 trauma designation.
Patient population is varied, including NICU/PICU and cardiothoracic cases.

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Maine
Minimum 3 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in NICU/PICU and cardiothoracic respiratory therapy.
Flexibility, strong communication skills, and ability to work well in a team environment.

Additional Information

Scrubs are provided or flexible regarding scrub color.
No unacceptable attire specified.
