Travel RN Opportunity – Medical/Surgical Unit (Telemetry)

Location: Martinsville, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Facility Overview

• Licensed for 220 beds, full-service acute-care hospital
• Provides over 22 medical specialties including surgical services, 24-hour emergency, home health & hospice, wound healing, cardiac rehab, cardiac cath labs, outpatient surgery, and oncology services
• Accredited by American College of Cardiology (ACC) for Chest Pain Center and Heart Failure, American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer
• Member of Duke Heart Network and Duke Telestroke Network

Position Details

• Role: Registered Nurse (RN)
• Specialty: Medical/Surgical - Telemetry
• Unit: Medical Surgical Unit
• Number of Openings: 1
• Shift: Nights (7 PM – 7 AM)
• Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed
• Weekend Hours: Every other weekend / as needed
• Call Requirements: As needed
• Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
• Number of Beds on Unit: 41
• EHR System: Meditech
• Patient Population: All ages
• Float Requirements: May require travel within 25-mile radius of facility

Required Certifications & Licenses

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification
• Handle with Care (patient handling)
• Valid Registered Nurse License in Virginia

Experience & Skills

• 1-2 years of nursing experience preferred
• Critical thinking and decisive judgment skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
• Flexibility to work all shift patterns including weekends and holidays to ensure continuity of care

Additional Information

• Orientation occurs bi-weekly on Tuesdays
• Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff
• Random drug screening and criminal background consent required
• Dress code: Scrubs required, no casual wear; no specific scrub color mandated
