Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) - Travel Position

Location: Richmond, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Must have 2 years of experience in a hospital setting.
  • Experience in hospital and inpatient rehab preferred.
  • Skilled in stroke evaluation and treatment.
  • Procedures performed include swallowing and language assessments and treatments.
  • May float to acute hospital units if rehab census is low and on weekends.
  • Scheduling: Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts between 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM; weekend rotation required.
  • Patient ratio approximately 8-9:1.
  • Unit staffing includes 3 speech therapists and 1 tech.
  • Use of AIDET communication and immediate service recovery expected.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Speech Language Pathologist license in Virginia
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Speech Language Pathologist, including experience within the last year
  • Minimum of 2 years of hospital setting experience
  • ASHA Certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Work Environment & Equipment

  • Unit has 44 beds.
  • Equipment includes Vital Stim, AmpCare, MBSS with TIMS, and FEES.
  • Documentation system: Meditech Expanse.
  • Dress code: Black scrub bottoms and royal blue top preferred.

Additional Information

  • Joint Commission Stroke Certification held by the unit.
  • Opportunity to work with experienced staff and advanced technology.
  • Floating to acute care units may be required based on census.
