Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - Operating Room

Location: Carlsbad, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (4x10 hour shifts)
On-Call:

• Minimum 1 weekday call per week
• Weekend rotation required
• On-call hours: Monday–Friday 3:30 PM – 7:00 AM, Saturday and Sunday 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM

Job Description

• Prepare the operating room including sterile field setup, surgical equipment, supplies, and solutions
• Pass instruments, fluids, and supplies to the surgeon during surgery
• Manage surgical equipment and sterile field simultaneously
• Perform counts of sponges and supplies to prevent retained foreign objects
• Support a surgical department with 6 operating rooms and approximately 250-300 procedures monthly
• Patient ratio is 1:1 in a 99-bed facility
• EMR systems used: MedHost (Inpatient), PICIS (OR)
• Hospital scrubs provided

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required (completion of CAAHEP-accredited or equivalent program and national CST exam)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Experience with general, orthopedic, OB/GYN, podiatry, urology, plastics, endocrine, trauma, and robotic (DaVinci) surgeries
• Experience with both adult and pediatric patients
• Fingerprints required for all travelers in New Mexico

• No option for 48-hour guarantee or blocked scheduling
• Weekly hours: 36 hours
• Call is mandatory as described above
