Radiology Specialist - X-Ray Tech

Job Description

• Perform routine and specialized radiographic procedures as requested by licensed independent practitioners for radiologist interpretation.
• Integrate scientific knowledge, technical skills, patient interaction, and compassionate care to produce diagnostic information.
• Demonstrate detailed understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
• Maintain high accuracy in radiographic positioning and exposure techniques.
• Check exam rooms daily to ensure adequate stock and maintain inventory at par levels.
• Confirm patient identity using approved identifiers.
• Provide age-appropriate care and prepare patients properly for procedures.
• Verify pregnancy and informed consent status of patients.
• Assess contraindications such as medication risks, patient history, lab results, and preparation adequacy.
• Determine type and dose of contrast agents based on patient age, weight, and medical status.
• Anticipate and respond to patient needs throughout the procedure.

Additional Information

• Knowledge of radiology physics and procedures appropriate for patients from infancy to adulthood.
• Operate and troubleshoot all required equipment, including automated processors, film digitizing equipment, RIS, and PACS.
• Basic life support certification and understanding of medical terminology required.
• Must demonstrate professional fundamental competencies for satisfactory job performance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; courteous and supportive interaction with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and follow established scanning protocols independently.

Schedule

• Day Shift: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
• 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week

Contract Length

• 14 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Valid Radiology Technician license in Texas
• Radiology Technician with a minimum of 3 years of experience, including experience within the last year
• Certified Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
• Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (CMRT) by the Texas Medical Board
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Technical diploma graduate from a formal diagnostic Radiology program
