Job Opportunity: Radiographer (Radiologic Technologist)

Location: Detroit, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Under the direction of a Radiologist, perform radiologic procedures to evaluate pathological conditions as ordered by a physician. Use independent judgment to determine appropriate radiographic techniques, positioning, and safety practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Explain examination procedures and prepare patients for exams.
• Review clinical data and obtain additional patient history as needed.
• Prepare procedure rooms and replenish supplies.
• Analyze patient anatomy, set up equipment, and perform radiologic procedures manually.
• Administer intravenous contrast media when applicable and monitor patients for reactions.
• Apply radiation protection principles (shielding, dose reduction, ALARA techniques).
• Prepare and maintain sterile equipment and follow infection control protocols.
• Ensure patient safety, privacy, confidentiality, and comfort.
• Complete all necessary documentation, logs, and patient records.
• Teach and educate new hires and students as needed.
• Manage image quality and delivery in PACS and complete study indexing in RIS.
• Collaborate with Radiologists to confirm clinical protocols before studies.
• Demonstrate excellent communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

• Work in hospital settings including fixed units, inpatient departments, OR, ER, or with mobile units.
• Potential exposure to radiation, high-voltage equipment, and contagious patients.
• Occasionally lift or move equipment and/or patients over 10 lbs.

Education & Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Must maintain required continuing education hours.
• Registered or registry-eligible with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). If registry-eligible, must obtain registration within 6 months of hire.
• Healthcare Provider certification required (BCLS).
