Job Opportunity: Radiographer (Radiologic Technologist)
Location: Detroit, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Under the direction of a Radiologist, perform radiologic procedures to evaluate pathological conditions as ordered by a physician. Use independent judgment to determine appropriate radiographic techniques, positioning, and safety practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Explain examination procedures and prepare patients for exams.
- Review clinical data and obtain additional patient history as needed.
- Prepare procedure rooms and replenish supplies.
- Analyze patient anatomy, set up equipment, and perform radiologic procedures manually.
- Administer intravenous contrast media when applicable and monitor patients for reactions.
- Apply radiation protection principles (shielding, dose reduction, ALARA techniques).
- Prepare and maintain sterile equipment and follow infection control protocols.
- Ensure patient safety, privacy, confidentiality, and comfort.
- Complete all necessary documentation, logs, and patient records.
- Teach and educate new hires and students as needed.
- Manage image quality and delivery in PACS and complete study indexing in RIS.
- Collaborate with Radiologists to confirm clinical protocols before studies.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
- Work in hospital settings including fixed units, inpatient departments, OR, ER, or with mobile units.
- Potential exposure to radiation, high-voltage equipment, and contagious patients.
- Occasionally lift or move equipment and/or patients over 10 lbs.
Education & Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Must maintain required continuing education hours.
- Registered or registry-eligible with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). If registry-eligible, must obtain registration within 6 months of hire.
- Healthcare Provider certification required (BCLS).
