Job Description

• Assist cardiologists in performing invasive and diagnostic/interventional cardiac, vascular, and electrophysiologic (EP) procedures.
• Perform technical hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation using automated techniques.
• Set up and operate electrical/imaging equipment and computers.
• Interpret hemodynamic and procedural results/outcomes.
• Operate monophasic and biphasic defibrillators.
• Communicate and educate patients during procedures to alleviate anxiety.
• Recognize and assist with anesthesia needs for sedated or anesthetized patients.
• Collaborate with research staff on laboratory-based research.
• Train and mentor team members.
• Manage and troubleshoot equipment, ensuring safety and proper function.
• Maintain aseptic technique and assist in passing sterile guidewires, catheters, and other devices.
• Prepare instruments for sterilization and sterile fields.
• Accurately interpret EKGs and alert physicians to irregular activity.
• Advocate for patient needs and ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 3 years of applicable experience in cardiovascular invasive radiologic technology.
• Knowledge of hemodynamic concepts, cardiac anatomy and physiology.
• Competency in moderate sedation administration and protocols.
• Understanding of EP concepts, fluoroscopic anatomy, and physiology.
• Ability to recognize and assist in treatment of complications from cardiac/vascular/EP procedures.
• Proficient in sterile technique and preparation specific to cardiac/vascular procedures.
• Extensive knowledge of supplies and equipment used in cardiac/vascular diagnostic and interventional procedures.
• Ability to connect and monitor physiologic equipment properly.
• Knowledge of radiation safety and imaging equipment use.
• Advanced EKG interpretation and arrhythmia recognition skills.
• Data analysis and interpretation related to device implantation and function.
• Proficient in procedure setup.
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Basic computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, email, web browsing).
• Multicultural sensitivity.

Education Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in a related field
  OR
• Certificate of completion for Radiology Program

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) License in Radiologic Technology
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Association
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) - American Heart Association
• ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) Registration in Radiology

Prior Travel Experience
