Licensed Practical Nurse

Role Overview

• Children/Adolescent Psych Unit
• Night shift, 19:00–07:30
• Every other weekend and some holidays required

Required Qualifications

• Valid LPN / LVN license in New York
• Behavioral Health (1 year of experience)
• Behavioral Health experience within the last year
• BLS
• Psychiatric experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Peds experience
• Prior experience in an inpatient setting

Key Responsibilities

• Perform patient care functions in an acute care setting with minimal orientation and supervision
• Greet patients, direct them to exam rooms, and prepare for exams
• Assist during exams, including setting up trays for injections, measuring and recording patient progress, and taking and recording vital signs
• Assist with general office duties, reception, appointment scheduling, filing, and chart preparation
• Contact insurance companies for authorizations and primary care physicians for referrals or referral extensions
• Assist physicians in patient care
• Maintain exam rooms and clinical areas
• Administer injections and assist with paps and other procedures
• Implement nursing care activities under the direction of the primary or associate nurse
• Observe and report patient responses to treatments
• Participate in nursing unit management activities

• Experience using Electronic Medical Records is strongly desired
