Job Description

• Work on a fast-paced Post Surgical Care Unit (PSCU) providing care for pre- and post-surgical adult and geriatric patients.
• Unit has 40 inpatient beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:4-5 during day/evening shifts and 1:5-7 at night.
• Average daily admissions: 10-15, with occupancy at 90-95% during the week.
• Average length of stay: 2-3 days (except joint patients).
• Float to all inpatient units with appropriate patient assignments.
• Shift: 12-hour day/night shifts (7a-7p / 7p-7a), working every other weekend and holidays.
• On-call/callback may be required during low census periods; minimum callback time is 2 hours.
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week, with eligibility for 36 hours of low census unbillable hours.

Required Qualifications

• Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) License.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum 2+ years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience with recent hospital experience.
• Trauma Level II experience required.
• Prior travel experience is required.
• Epic EMR charting experience required.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize patient care based on acuity, and work effectively as part of a team.

Additional Information

• Radius rule: Must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility.
• Equipment used includes Epic EMR, Rovers for medication scanning, and Alaris pumps.
• Scrub color: Any color allowed.
• During flu season, travelers declining flu and COVID vaccinations must wear a mask at all times per facility policy. Non-compliance may result in corrective action.

Summary

This is a 13-week travel contract for an experienced Medical-Surgical RN with trauma experience and prior travel assignments. The role requires flexibility to float across inpatient units, strong Epic EMR skills, and the ability to work 12-hour shifts including weekends and holidays.
