Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Intermediate Care

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel

Contract Details

• Length: 6 weeks
• Start Date: ASAP
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and every other holiday
• Call Requirements: May be placed on call during low census; minimum 2-hour callback pay

Unit Information

• 36-bed Medical-Surgical Intermediate Care unit
• Heavy telemetry focus
• Patient conditions include: stable and weaning ventilators/tracheostomies, sepsis, trauma, alcohol detox, GI bleed, colostomy/ileostomy care, chest tubes, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic trauma, spinal cord injury, stroke
• Patient ratio: 4:1 (including insulin drips)
• Float requirements: Float to all inpatient units as needed, typically higher acuity units

Required Qualifications

• License: Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Certifications: BLS and ACLS required
• Experience:

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in Stepdown/Intermediate Care/Progressive Care Unit required
  • Ventilator and tracheostomy experience required
  • ICU experience preferred
  • Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Prior Travel Experience: At least 1 prior travel contract required
• Charting: EPIC charting experience preferred

Additional Information

• Contractors must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Contract ends on Sunday, not Saturday
• Scrub colors: any color allowed
• During flu season, travelers declining flu and COVID vaccinations must wear masks at all times per facility policy
• Must be resilient, able to manage change, work independently, and complete tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
