Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Emergency Room

Location: Iron River, Michigan
Employment Type: Travel Contract

Contract Details

Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour night shifts
Guaranteed Hours: 72 hours biweekly (overtime after 80 hours in 2nd week)
Start Date: ASAP
Float Requirements: Must float to ICU and Medical-Surgical units as needed
On Call: May be low censused and placed on call; minimum 2-hour callback
Weekend/Holiday Rotation: Rotating weekends and holidays, typically every 3rd weekend

Unit Information

Emergency Department with 9 beds, including 2 negative pressure rooms and 2 trauma bays
Staffing: 2 RNs on day shift until 11 pm; 1 RN on night shift with charge nurse assistance
ICU: 2-bed unit staffed only when patients are present
Med/Surg: 25-bed unit with 4-5 COVID rooms
Scrub Colors: Any color allowed

Required Qualifications

Current Michigan RN license
Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC
Minimum Experience: 5 years preferred, 3 years required in Emergency Room specialty
Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Job Responsibilities

Perform emergency department assessments and general nursing duties
Care for a diverse patient population including geriatric patients with CHF or COPD, diabetic ketoacidosis, trauma, stroke, cardio-respiratory emergencies, COVID-19, pediatric patients, and other medical concerns
May serve as Charge RN during shifts
Float to ICU and Med/Surg units as needed to support staffing and patient care

Additional Information

Must comply with facility vaccination policies during flu season; mask-wearing required if declining flu and COVID vaccines
Contract includes eligibility for 36 hours of low census unbillable hours
Radius rule: Must be located at least 50 miles outside the facility at time of assignment

This position is ideal for experienced ER nurses comfortable with night shifts, floating between units, and working in a dynamic hospital environment.
